Gaining qualifications has never been more important! Basically
the better your qualifications the more money you are likely to
earn! The chart below also shows that the better your qualifications
the less chance you have of being unemployed.

Remember that most
young people are now entitled to reasonable paid
time off for study from work so there's no excuse!

Target
your Job Search - It's a fact that some jobs pay better than others
so it's an idea to research which jobs pay well. A pilot can earn
over £65,000 a year whilst a successful stockbroker can earn over
£100,000!*. Some specialist IT jobs can also attract high salaries.
You can do research into different careers by using a school or
college careers library or by calling into your nearest Career Development
Centre. However, it is important to be happy in your chosen career
so pick a job that gives you job satisfaction as well as money!

Be
Your Own Boss
This is by no
means an easy option or a quick way to make money. Self employment
can be very stressful particularly when you are just starting out.
It's important to have a good idea and then research the market
to see if there is a demand for the product or service you are considering.
In order to get financial assistance you will need a good business
plan and there are various organisations that can help you with
this. Call into your local Career Development Centre or look in
the 'Colour Pages' under 'Help for Local Business'.
